“La Joya”** Hotel is a modern, informal lodging center constructed with an exclusive architectural design for hotel operations, ranking two stars. It is located in the ‘Folkloric Craft Center’ of the city of La Paz which in the times of the Spanish Colony was the “Indian Village” and is at present the neighboring areas of “El Rosario”, “Gran Poder” and “Garita de Lima”.

From the time of the Colony, followed by the republican period and up to this day what used to be called the “Indian Village” represented the most important settlement of mestizos and natives in these latitudes of “Chukiagu Marka”. “Tambos” or lodging centers and places of storage for agricultural products were set up in these areas, where soon mestizos and natives, artisans and merchants settled bringing with them their religious faith, customs and folklore thus making the Lord “Jesus of Gran Poder” their source of catholic devotion and whose church is, today and will be in the future, a proud image for spreading and projecting the Andean-Paceño folklore to Latin America and the world.

“La Joya” Hotel** is located in Maximiliano Paredes Street in front of the offices of the Municipal District Government and the Community Police in a secure, picturesque, authentic and colorful neighborhood, surrounded by a daily open air fair in which Andean women and men’s vocation for commerce is highlighted.
